Reference Amplifier

For music- and studio recording purposes, the monitoring sound is desired to be clean and free not only from "bad" distortion but also from even order harmonic distortion as of a class A tube amplifier. Otherwise, any enhanced sound in the recording studio would mislead the recording technician or producer in how the listeners will hear the sound. Since a few people have tube amplifiers at home, it is their choice to add that type of "tube sound". (However, it is very common today to add tube sound characteristics as an effect on tracks or even the whole mix of a recording production, in order to achieve more "warmth" to an otherwise "digital" sound.)
